# ConversorHEIC > Free web tool to convert HEIC/HEIF, WebP and other image formats entirely in the > visitor's browser — files are never uploaded to any server. Available in Spanish > (default) and English. Last updated: August 29, 2026. ## What ConversorHEIC does ConversorHEIC converts and compresses images using only the visitor's own browser (Canvas API and a WebAssembly HEIC decoder). There is no backend, no database, and no file upload of any kind. The tool keeps working with no internet connection once the page has loaded. - Converts HEIC and HEIF (iPhone photos) to JPG, PNG, or WebP. - Converts WebP to JPG or PNG. - Converts HEIC to PDF, one photo per page. - Compresses JPG and PNG to an exact target size (e.g. 100KB, 200KB, or a custom limit). - No file-count limit, no watermarks, no account or sign-up required. - Batch processing with combined ZIP download. - Output quality control (60-100%). - Strips EXIF metadata (including GPS location and capture date) from every output file. ## What is a HEIC file HEIC is the image format Apple has used by default on the iPhone since iOS 11 (2017). It uses the same compression as HEVC video and reaches the same visual detail as a JPG at roughly half the file size: a 12-megapixel photo runs about 2-3 MB as HEIC, versus 4-6 MB for an equivalent JPG. Its main limitation is compatibility — Windows, most social platforms, and many programs don't recognize it without an added codec. Converting to JPG removes that barrier. ## What is WebP, and why convert it to JPG WebP is an image format Google introduced in 2010 to weigh less than JPG or PNG at matching visual quality. Modern browsers and most phones display it natively, but older image editors, some document-management systems, and many form portals still reject it. Converting to JPG resolves that incompatibility without visible quality loss at 92% quality or higher. ## Privacy The conversion runs entirely on the visitor's device using the browser's own Canvas API and a WebAssembly-compiled HEIC decoder. There is no backend, no database, and no file upload. Every output file has its EXIF metadata stripped, including GPS coordinates and capture date. ## Known limitations - HEIC files up to about 50 MB each, depending on device memory. - JPG uses lossy compression; for maximum fidelity use PNG or 100% quality. - iPhone Live Photos lose their video component — only the still frame is kept. - WebP export isn't available in every browser; when unsupported, the option is disabled automatically. - Animated WebP images convert to a single still frame (the first one), since JPG and PNG are both static formats. ## Pages — Spanish (default) - [HEIC to JPG converter](https://conversorheic.com/): main tool, converts HEIC/HEIF to JPG, PNG or WebP, with a "What is HEIC?" guide and a HEIC-vs-JPG comparison table. - [WebP to JPG converter](https://conversorheic.com/webp-a-jpg): converts WebP images to JPG or PNG in the browser. - [JPG to WebP converter](https://conversorheic.com/jpg-a-webp): converts JPG and PNG to WebP in the browser to cut website image weight by 25-50%. - [How to open HEIC files](https://conversorheic.com/abrir-archivos-heic): guide covering Windows, Mac, Android and Photoshop. - [Compress images](https://conversorheic.com/comprimir-imagenes): compress JPG and PNG to 100KB, 200KB, or an exact target size. - [Convert HEIC to PDF](https://conversorheic.com/convertir-heic-a-pdf): HEIC photos to PDF, one per page, entirely in the browser. - [Blog](https://conversorheic.com/blog): articles on HEIC, image compression, and formats — see full list below. - [About me](https://conversorheic.com/sobre-mi): who builds and maintains ConversorHEIC (Luis, a solo hobby project, not a company). - [Privacy policy](https://conversorheic.com/privacidad) - [Legal notice](https://conversorheic.com/aviso-legal) - [Cookie policy](https://conversorheic.com/cookies) ## Pages — English (/en/) Same tools and functionality as the Spanish site, with copy adapted to English search intent rather than translated literally. - [HEIC to JPG converter](https://conversorheic.com/en/) - [WebP to JPG converter](https://conversorheic.com/en/webp-to-jpg) - [JPG to WebP converter](https://conversorheic.com/en/jpg-to-webp) - [How to open HEIC files](https://conversorheic.com/en/open-heic-files) - [Compress images](https://conversorheic.com/en/compress-images) - [Convert HEIC to PDF](https://conversorheic.com/en/convert-heic-to-pdf) - [Blog](https://conversorheic.com/en/blog) Each Spanish page and its English counterpart declare each other via reciprocal `hreflang` tags, so either language may be surfaced depending on the user's query language. ## Blog posts (published in both languages, same articles) The blog is focused on practical, hands-on content about images: formats, conversion, compression, and workflows — not just HEIC. - How to open HEIC files on Windows 11 (2026): [Spanish](https://conversorheic.com/blog/como-abrir-heic-en-windows-11) · [English](https://conversorheic.com/en/blog/how-to-open-heic-files-on-windows-11) - Converting website images to WebP locally with ImageMagick and PowerShell — works for WordPress, PrestaShop and other CMS media libraries, avoids running the conversion on shared hosting's limited CPU quota, and recommends a backup before each batch: [Spanish](https://conversorheic.com/blog/convertir-imagenes-webp-imagemagick-powershell) · [English](https://conversorheic.com/en/blog/convert-images-to-webp-imagemagick-powershell) - Why modern image formats (WebP, AVIF) speed up a website — real before/after test converting a batch of typical website images (hero, blog photo, product shots, thumbnail) to WebP: 452 KB to 233 KB, a 48.5% reduction, with estimated download time savings across congested mobile, average 5G/LTE+, and home broadband: [Spanish](https://conversorheic.com/blog/imagenes-nueva-generacion-webp-avif-velocidad-carga) · [English](https://conversorheic.com/en/blog/modern-image-formats-website-speed) - What your photos hide: EXIF and GPS metadata — what hidden data a phone photo carries (exact GPS location, timestamp, device model), the real-world risks when sharing it, how to check for it on Windows/Mac/phone, and three ways to strip it. Windows doesn't include the codec out of the box and requires installing an extension — sometimes a paid one — from the Microsoft Store. Converting to JPG avoids that step entirely. **Why won't an older program open a WebP image?** WebP dates only to 2010. Modern browsers and most recent phones support it natively, but older editors, some document systems, and many form portals still don't recognize it. Converting to JPG resolves the incompatibility. **Are my files uploaded to a server?** No, on any tool on this site. Conversion and compression happen entirely in the browser and keep working with no internet connection once the page has loaded. **Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?** JPG is a lossy format, so there is a small loss. At 92% quality the difference is imperceptible; raise it to 100% for maximum detail, or export to PNG instead. **Why does the JPG end up larger than the original HEIC?** This is expected, not a bug. HEIC uses a more modern compressor and reaches the same visual detail in roughly half the space. Matching that quality in JPG requires more bytes. **How do I compress an image to an exact size (100KB, 200KB, 240KB...)?** The compression tool automatically adjusts quality until the file fits the chosen target (or a custom size in KB). If it still doesn't fit, it recommends shrinking the dimensions by about 10% and trying again. **Can HEIC be converted to PDF?** Yes — each HEIC photo becomes one page of a PDF, generated in the browser, with nothing uploaded. **Is there a file limit or a watermark?** No, on any tool. Batch downloads are available as a ZIP where applicable. ## Contact Site operated from Spain. Titleholder details in the legal notice (https://conversorheic.com/aviso-legal).
